Your Questions About Diet And Exercise

Helen asks…
What do you think of my diet and exercise plan and what can i do to improve it?
Hello!
Okay for the last two weeks i’ve been swapping my very unhealthy diet for a mix of only white meats, homemade soups, vegetables, fruit, special K cereal, and occasionally porridge with a dash of honey. I know this sounds quite limited but I’m not bored of it… yet (I love fruit!) I have between 1500 and 1800 calories a day
I’m drinking 2 liters (or as close to 2 liters as i can get) of water a day. (and no other drinks)
I’ve been swimming three times and swam 100 lengths in 2 hours each time. (I know this is slow but i’m just starting out). I also have a workout dvd with aerobics and boxing on which takes about 40 minutes. I try to walk for an hour twice a week.
Does this sound like enough? Too much? Can anyone think of any suggestions for either more exercise or different foods I could try?
I’m 18, 5’7″, and about 210lbs.
Thanks x

This is actually a VERY good workout plan. Good advice someone gave me was to incorporate color into your diet. Try to get the full spectrum in one day (i.e. Red tomatos, oranges, lemons, spinach, eggplant) Those are just some examples. Make sure to eat lots of fish and cut down on sugar and salts anywhere you can, which it already sounds like you’re doing.
Calorie counting and exercise is the one fool-proof way to lose weight. Take a before picture so you can gloat later! Good luck!

Mary asks…
What is a good diet/exercise i can do during the summer?
I’m not in really good shape and don’t have enough time during the school year to exercise. I am about 5 foot 3 inches and 147 lbs. I would like to lose 15 – 25 pounds. I do not have access to exercise equipment except for a treadmill and 5 lb weights. What is a good exercise and diet I can use for the whole summer? Also can I lose 15-25 lbs in 3 months?

Hmm, I suggest doing 20 minutes of cardio (jogging, treadmill) at least 2 times a week, maybe more.
Lift those 5 lb weights. Do 3 sets of 20 on a day when nothing much is going on (either that or about 3 times a week)
Jump rope. Sound childish? Ever see a chubby professional rope skipper? Didn’t think so. It works!
Push ups. 3 sets of 5 but increase it a little bit every week.
On top of all this, make sure to eat good, healthy protein. A quick search on google.com is all you need to find out what foods are good for you when losing weight.
